In the latest craziness I’ve been pretty exhausted with work (excuses) so not a whole lots been done this past week. I’d been able to get 6hr days to limit exposure but after a week, that’s a no go with management. Now with the recommendation of facemasks work will continue to be fantastic.
Got to the point of starting the triangulation within the chassis, but before starting that it seemed necessary to complete all the existing welds. With my work ethic that took a week.
With that phase of welding done the transmission tunnel was finalized, yes its incredibly compromised but that’s part of the tradeoff fitting a large drivetrain while maintaining a reasonable wheelbase.
Here was another,”solution” because the trans tunnel is 1" taller (14") from the spaceframe exterior (13").
Finally broke out the 3/4" for the tunnel brace.
Had to get the drivetrain in place to decide where the bracing will realistically fit. The idea is to lay down masking tape for visualization aswell as record the measurements.
Then some vague mockups of where the cooling bits are going to sit. After thinking a bit there will be plenty of room to place the intercooler behind the engine over the footwell. Ideally I’d just buy parts that fit better but this project was born primarily out of having a bunch of parts that are valuable to me but worthless to sell.(ls400 brakes, sc400 hubs, sc400 steering rack, megasquirt, 1uz, cheapo 550cc injectors, too many ebay turbos, etc.)
Bodywork is going to require alot of creativity to not look horrible on the front end with the height of the motor combined with how far the turbos stick out.
Also went ahead and powerpurchased a seat along with the heim joints for front suspension. As soon as the local junk yard has an 05-12 GT mustang in I’ll snag the rear axle too.
Stay safe out there everyone
