I’m not going to make this about actual politics. It’s about cars, that happened during a political moment. I’m sure you all know where I stand about our current president* and if you want to disagree with me about it this is not the time or place. If you attempt to do so I will slap the shit out of you while standing on my one good leg, and dismiss your comment so nobody sees it anyway.

Onward!

I really, really didn’t want to watch the debate. There was absolutely nothing I stood to gain from doing so. But my wife for some reason was very excited about watching it, and even thought it was going to be *entertaining*, so I said ok, I’ll watch some of it with you. She got all hopped up yelling at the screen, while I periodically checked in to ask if she was ready to turn it off please prettyplease. I got rebuffed my first few attempts, but eventually she had enough. But not before this gem.

When Trump was asked why he rolled back increased fuel economy standards set by the Obama administration, instead of admitting that he just wants to roll back anything Obama did because Obama did it, he said this:

I freely admit that the only way I was able to tolerate this debate was with a liberal amount of medical weed and percocet (which was also prescribed for my achilles surgery!), so I had a hearty chortle at this moment.

I can’t help but feel like this is a wonderful sequel to 2017's, “How many Chevrolets do you see in Germany?”

UPDATE: Welp, I guess I was naive to expect no Trump supporters would wander in here with some shit to say, so fine, let me make this abundantly clear.

The only point Trump was trying to make here in his own stupid illiterate way, was that Obama’s fuel economy standards made cars too complicated and expensive, but now that Trump rolled back those standards, cars are getting less complicated and cheaper.

This is patently false. Cars are just as complicated as they were before, and they’re not cheaper.

If you are a Trump supporter, and you come in here trying to say he’s right because of some other thing about cars that’s not the thing that Trump said about his fuel economy rollback making cars cheaper...

1. Don’t.

2. If you do, while some of your colleagues drew me into stupid rabbit holes before they got dismissed, you won’t have the “pleasure.”

Thanks Trumpkins, for making me have to explain the joke. 🙄
