Behold: my first Toyota, a 1989 base model. Stripped interior, rattle-can paint, wheezy stalling motor with over 319k miles, duct tape on the buns of the driver’s seat. Top speed: 75 mph? Best fuel economy: 26 mpg. No power steering. 5-speed.

But it was wouldn’t die... Drove it through all manner of extreme (for the PNW) conditions. I owned it for about 5 years, and it probably saved me a small fortune because all I ever replaced were a set of tires, brake pads, and a door handle. I even slapped a grille from a 1991 4Runner for styyyyyyyyyyyle.
