Did more things.

It’s been 3,018 miles since the last oil change on the Vibe, and probably at least a year on the longboi. So today was a two-fer.

There had been a small oil leak on the car since last year, yet this time around, there wasn’t the usual seepage of oil around the bottom of the oil pan. And the dipstick appears 100% full. So maybe the cold weather or something helped momentarily clog the point of weakness? In any case: neat! — until it starts again.

I also figured out how to get the oil filter out from the top. It takes a specific path, and rubber garden gloves because you will slash up a lot of fingers and the back of your hand without something more durable than thin latex gloves. So no more hot oil running down my arm because of having to remove from below!

Now for the longboi. Good news is: brakes seem to be good again and no leaking from new master cylinder we installed last night.

The not so good news: found three areas where the front suspension is definitely wearing out. Bushings torn and grease is leaking. Appears I will have to take many things apart someday to get to them. On the plus side: everything is well-lubricated from all of the leaking oil and grease!

After all this, I put all my tools away and moved the cars out. I hit every spot I could find of brake fluid that had leaked on the ground, hosed off the garage floor, and now I have the heater running for a while to get that wetness off the floor. At the very least, I’ll be able to see any new leaks and oil drips in the future on the floor now.
