The new Mercedes-Maybach S 650 “Night Edition” has been criticized by car news outlets for being an “S-Class with a few tacked-on decorative pieces.” The truth is, Mercedes is finally catching on to Nissan’s winning formula for improving sales.
With vehicles like the Altima SR Midnight Edition and even the Frontier Midnight Edition, Nissan has been outclassing Mercedes-Maybach for years.
Maybach hopes to take back 15 units of market share from Nissan, by selling the new Mercedes-Maybach S650 “Night Edition.” That’s right, all fifteen of them will have “Night Edition” badges.
Nissan’s market presence in the highly exclusive Special Edition segment will be tough to unseat though. Time will tell if Maybach will catch on as an affordable, yet stylish, entry-level brand.
