Guess I'm putting myself through trauma again

When I was just 9 years old I saw Battle Royale on a bootleg DVD (this was back before uTorrent was useful) and it scarred me gravely, more than the original The Ring that I watched prior and Ju-On: The Grudge two years later.

In 2014, I saw it again with classmates on a whim, and FOOKIN’ HELL the whole thing was stunning and squalid, a movie we all enjoyed but kept us thinking aloud. Two years after that, I watched it again while sailing on the net, and after seeing Nerdwriter’s analysis of it, I finally saw the brilliance of this picture.

Now I’m seeing this movie as soon as this post goes live, not to live out some nostalgic craving, but more to see if this is a kind of story that can be told in another way, with a different subject, from a different perspective. These are kids, after all, and in my quest to late-push my coming of age I look to make new tales of people discovering who they are. Maybe I can see it here, maybe not. Recommend me films or shows that may let me bolster my goal.
