Finished the E30

So a few months ago I posted and mentioned I had plans to sell my E30 Touring. A serious buyer came out to check out the car after two months of it being for sale. While he was checking it out I said to myself “why the hell are you selling this car?” As rare as it is and the sentimental value I have towards it I decided to keep it.

I then decided to refresh the exterior and fix a few things with the cooling system. I bought a new radiator, thermostat, water pump, temp valves, and piping/hoses. After that was done I tackled the paint. Being single stage paint, detailing it will leave you with paint all over your pads and on your hands. You have to be careful doing it opposed to cars with clearcoat on the top layer. I bought a new kidney as well as grilles and roundels and restored the rest of the black plastic trim.

I compounded it with fast correcting cream and polished with perfecting cream. After those steps I made sure the surface was clean and applied a coating of Gtechniq V4. This is the first time I’ve used a ceramic type coating so I’m eager to see how it holds up. I put about 20 hours of work into the exterior and I am very happy with the finished product.
