Working on a Thing (afternoon repost)

Which would be the resonator and flex tube delete for the new van.

I got all the parts to delete the resonator, so I figured why not and got it piped between the throttle body and the flex pipe.

It took a 3.5" to 4" 45 coupler, a 4" to 4" 45 coupler, both of which needed about 1.25" trimmed off the adjoining sides, and a 2 pieces of 4" pipe (1 @ 3" for joining the 45s, 1 @ 1" for the flex tube). I also had to cut a hole for the intake temp sensor, which I cut about .010" undersize so the temp sensor just “presses” into the hole.

I have the 4.5" to 4" 45 coupler on the way to delete the flex pipe as well.

After driving it all weekend with this installed, the results thus far are this:

1. Response is noticeably improved. When you touch the pedal now it wants to go immediately instead of “thinking” about it.

2. The engine feels much more spritely under 4k rpms with a noticeable bump around 3k. So much so that 2 of the hills on my way home it usually downshifts for it managed without.

3. Engine noise is slightly greater, but it isn’t really noticeable under normal driving. I do feel the flex pipe is helping keep the noise down some yet.
