October 13th will find me driving toward the Oxford Ranch Campgrounds near Llano, TX. in the heart of the hill country of Texas.
This will be the 4th year that the expo has been put on. I went last year to the one outside of Austin. It was a lot smaller than this one is turning out to be. I’m guessing the folks who put this on did too, as they now found a bigger venue and a lot of folks are buzzing on facebook about camping out that weekend.
From what I gather, prior events centered around camping, fishing, getting outside. This year seems to be turning into more of a Texas Overlanding event. (They are partnering with the Texas Overland group, so there’s that.)
I have a feeling that this could become the local version of Overland Expo, and I for one am totally happy with that, as it’s easier to get to for a quick weekend trip for me at this time of year.
Expect some sort of “trip report” from me after the event. I’ll be posting stuff on Facebook and Instagram as long as there is some sort of cell signal out there.
I’ll be mingling with fellow overlanders, offroaders and campers.
I’ll be checking out the vendors (of which seems to be more and more this year).
I’ll also be hanging out at camp relaxing. I’m thinking of hosting a cigar and whiskey social on Friday night, lol.
