I've been totally sold on the IDEA of an RTT, but this kind of logical debate forces me to reluctantly reevaluate my lust for one and simply enjoy tenting, or back of car camping. To be honest, its hard to beat the comfort, weatherproof nature and size of the springbar. It takes about 10 minutes to setup and a little longer to take down, but if you are going to be in foul weather I couldn't think of a more comfortable packable structure; warm in the cold, cool in the heat, dry in the rain (bonus: and the non-nylon material...duck canvas...gives rain a nice soothing noise) and pretty much windproof if staked properly. Sure they are pricey, but for $800 you get a 100 square foot room with 8 foot ceilings and a huge awning that will last forever.
