I had a nice quick drive up into the mountains thanks to VicariousILive. We took our oldest kids up American Fork Canyon and had a really nice time.
This is part of the Major Evans Gulch trail and it terminates 5/8th the way up the gulch where upon you are met with a gate as the entire top of the canyon is...sigh...private land anyway, we got up about half way and decided it was getting too thin and steep for a family affair and turned around. Cool place, I will have to come back.
The views aren’t too bad either.
After that we decided to head up canyon to find some water to play in. We found a very confused 3rd gen 4Runner pulling a popup trailer up this part of the canyon. Its not that its that difficult, but its not exactly a smooth road...and there isn’t much trailer camping up this way anyway...strange.
We also tried a few side roads to see if they could lead to someplace cool, this one lead to a lot of scratches on the truck.
We eventually found our spot though, just off the road actually.
Not too bad.
This is nothing special, just the tunnel the river passes through under the road, but it can be a cool place to a 4 year old. Man that water was cold though.
And here is a video that kinda sums up the afternoon. Good times.
