Looks your typical 79 series ute...but its a fully OBDII emissions/safety compliant V8 powered conversion roaming the streets in Colorado as an “assembled vehicle”.

It started life as an FZJ80 land cruiser, that was stripped to the frame and then had additional fully boxed frame segmenets grafted on. The axles where regeared to 4.56 and fully rebuilt, new shocks, springs and related components. Then a new 100 series 4.7L V8 and low mile trans were installed. A 79 series body was modified to fit the wider axles and then plopped on with a brand new 70 series dash and custom interior. Long range fuel tank installed and ready to go. The hubs have been converted to manual up front and the transfer case to part time. Dat Engine bay!

Basically its the best of all worlds (minus the manual trans option they should have sprung for) because you get the wider [and uniform] track width of the 80 series plus the comfort of full coil suspension, the power and durability of the 2uz, and the looks and utility of the 79 series. The only thing that would make this better (okay...two things counting the H151 trans) would be if it was a double cab.

Thanks to mad mad Christo Slee. This must have cost a fortune to do.
