Emergency/offline fridge stuff

Didn’t feel like watching two people be cordially hateful to each other so instead, I thought I would wire up a direct to battery jumper for my fridge.

I’ve got a group 34M deep cycle battery at my house on a maintainer for my tent trailer and I thought to myself; Self if you had a power outage, how long could you power your fridge off this fully topped off battery you have sitting here?

Because the new ARB plug is a dual cig/pole plug so I just unscrewed the cig part and used slide-on clips. Using 12 gauge wire, with a 10 amp inline fuse. Started the fridge at 34 and set to 28. We’ll see how long it lasts in this nice mild weather. The idea would be that the cold drinks would go out and the most important fridge food would go in, with that in mind I assumed the fridge would be pre-chilled and so would the food, but that it would be above the set point because of the loading. With this battery, I’m expecting about 20 hours of runtime, and if its cycling every 30 minutes that should give me a little less than 2 days in these temps.

Another reason to do this is that my father in law wanted to use the fridge for some camping, but there is no way his van battery would have a chance at keeping it running for the 3 days, so I wanted to see if this would be a viable solution (Run it on the van when driving, run it on the battery in camp). We’ll see.
