I found that I was often needing/packing the same thing on day trips so I decided I would do something about it. I now carry it with me full time. It has come in handy SO many times already. So I thought I would share!
I will include a list at the bottom but here is what’s in my Plano 56 quart Sportsman Trunk.
This is what’s in my minimalist Cotopaxi bag. Folding rain jacket, nylon small pack blanket, my waterproof bag of many uses (basic emergency kit, money, tools, headlamp, etc), Emergency Bivvy, lightweight self-inflating pad. This isn’t in there all the time, as I really don’t have a use for this stuff unless I am going to be in a remote place.
A hat. (not shown, leather work gloves that I waterproofed)
Dopp bag (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc). plus another similar food bag with snacks and a few treats.
quart Nalgene and Voile strap.
Critical paper goods
A packable hammock. Yes, this gets used a lot.
10-liter Dromedary bag. Mostly used for camp showers and washdown. Leave it on the roof or hood all day for one nice hot camp shower.
75 feet of nylon webbing and 25 feet of climbing rope. Used mostly as a drying line, hanging canvas, or with the footprint shelter or misc. The rope I take on hikes that are technical.
Saywer water filer and quart bag. I don’t use this a ton, but its a good cheap small item to have.
small tent footprint. I don’t use the tent much anymore but this thing is great for extending my awning or basic rain shelter in a pinch.
Full MSR mess kit - 2 pots, a pan a lid, a potholder, pocket rocket stove and fuel, matches, utensils kit and rags.
Camp helper bag in gallon ziplock - gloves, rags (one cotton, one leather for hot stuff) hand sani, coozie. This probably gets used the most of next to it.
Bag of bags - gallon bags, sandwich bags, plastic grocery bags and larger kitchen garbage bags. Mostly used for garbage bags and for sorting things. This comes up a TON...adding this bag has been a lifesaver.
Well labeled First aid/medicines kit in ironic Ammo case.
