So you know me as MontegoMan because of my 1968 Mercury Montego MX.
Time to talk a bit about the Jeep Commander that lives at home too! It’s actually my wife’s DD and she’s always wanted her Jeep to be more fun than a typical boring mall SUV. It’s a 2008 Jeep Commander Sport 4x4 with the 3.7L V6. This obviously is not the model to turn into a serious off roader, but we can have a little fun at least!
I don’t have any pics of her truck yet, but I’ll be sure to do before and after pics of the lift we’re putting on it next week. Rough Country has a real nice entry level 2” suspension lift (spacers) that doesn’t require new shocks and has great reviews around the web and in the Commander community (yes there is actually a Commander community with a Forum and everything).

I think I may call it Project Ice Box (It’s white).
We’re going up a bit on tire sizes to 255/70R17 from the stock 245/65R17. The kit says we can to 265, but I’ve heard they rub depending on the tire and you have to cut the inner fender and I would like to avoid that. We’re going with the Cooper A/T3’s, my dad runs them on his Silverado with great success and gets us a big discount.

We’ll be doing the upgrade at his shop next week, so pictures to come! In the mean time, here’s a few examples from Rough Country’s website of the 2” kit in use.
(an actual white one, different wheels though):

Once kids are older, I think she’ll move over to a Wrangler Unlimited. She’s definitely one of the ones hooked on Jeep.
