I’m sure most of us with any decent amount of windshield time on the interstates have seen a Utah license plate. But not that may people have actually seen the famous arch that graces the orange & blue sky plate.
I was amazed in 2005 when I went with some friends to the Easter Jeep Safari the actual size of it (65ft/ 20m). That day the national park was pretty busy and I was lucky to get this shot with only one person in the frame. At first I was kind of bummed because I could just capture the arch by itself. Looking at it now I am pleased to have the person there to show the scale of it.

I don’t think many photos show the deep bowl right in front of it either, or the sheer drop off just beyond the arch.
Walking the 1/2 mile or so from the parking lot to the arch there are rock faces and open areas, then you walk around this one wall and it’s all opened up and there it is.
If you ever make it out to Utah for 4-wheeling, mountain biking, or sight seeing be sure to stop in and spend a day at any of the national parks in the area.
