The Land Cruiser Heritage Museum in Salt Lake City. It’s hidden in plain sight, “sorta by design,” said the proprietor. It really is a museum dedicated to not only the first all-Japanese production vehicle, but to a fiercely robust and durable product for the world. In here is one of everything from Japanese, Australian, south american, canadien markets.
Up front is the ‘53 bjt. Their jeep. In the back is another oldie military style utility machine. A ‘62 fq15.
Then we move right into the fj40 and 55 models of all kinds of configuration.
Lots of left hand Japan and Aussie models. Apparently America loves the turbo diesels we never got and AUS wants the v8 they never got. What I’m disappointed about is the model 70 everyone but the US got. That one is just a perfect vehicle. Perhaps so perfect they never would have sold a pickup or 4runner.
Too many variations and options exist! Or just the right amount. Including the team of LC’s that drove across all 7 continents.
They chose the ultimate 70 series. Now I wonder how parts in the US are for 70s.
Firetrucks!
Even their version of a Humvee, the Mega Cruiser, Toyota style.
Ad lastly there wouldn’t be a collection without a collection of the collection...
Youll notice not many pics of the 80 and up models...well they’re thete but i see them all day out on the roads. The stuff to gush over is all here. Not to be outdone is an arctic prep Hilux.
I love my Tacoma, but I don’t need a Tundra. I need a Hilux. And a Land Cruiser 80. If your anywhere near SLC, take an hour or so and have a good time. They're ready to talk and answer any questions you have. They're owners and drivers and fixers of their own LCs as well.
To finish, we mde a short walk for good BBQ. Then back to work.
