We're slowly getting winter-ready.
Let’s get this out of the way. No, the lights are not going in the grill. I don’t care if it’s the best place for them, it looks SO Bad. Still unsure what I’m going to do with them, which is why 8 months later they’re still sitting in a box labeled “rally lighting”. I know I can fit ‘em behind the turnsignal lense, but oh man. That’s going to be a lot of work.
Speaking of “things I’m unsure what to do with”, I built this switch panel to control the lights. But... There’s nowhere to put it in my cabin. My best idea so far is to fabricate a custom transmission tunnel cover, and find a way to get the switch and fuse panel where my cup holders are currently. Or Maaaaaybe do something below my knees, right in front of the seat a la fire extinguisher mounts.
I know what you’re thinking, but no I actually did do some wrenching today. Feast your eyes on ze new undertray! LRB put together a fantastic kit, and included all the hardware. Which is great, because God knows I was missing about half the bolts.
Radiator is now fully boxed in, and 1/8" aluminum should provide a little bit of offroad protection too.
With this install, I’m almost done with the cooling phase of my build. All that’s left now is a coolant reroute, and install a better fan.
There’s a panel to cover the oil drain plug, but my valve sticks out a hair to far. I could use some washers, but I’d rather just have easy access anyways.
oil change courtesy of the dregs from about 10 bottles.
Next time I’ll be doing the valve cover gasket. Let’s see if we can get this engine to 400k.
