Trauma

We just got back from the vet. Toby has been locking himself and his skin seems a bit irritated. He actually seemed better than when I made the appointment, but we went anyway. Due to social distancing, they were meeting cars in the parking lot and taking the animals inside without. Their owners. Toby found this unacceptable, and planted his feet to prevent being moved away from me. I walked him in and it seemed OK once he got in the door, and the doctor called my cell phone to report.

He is fine and they did not find anything. He either has an allergy or an unduly protective guardian. They gave me medicated shampoo, and told me to keep an eye on it. On the phone, the doctor said, “I’ve seen him before but he has never been anxious like this.” I explained that he never goes far from my side. When they brought him out to the car, he was very upset and the girl commented on how anxious he was and asked if he was always that way. Again, I explained that he didn’t like the separation. He hunkered down in the Sunchaser and was very upset.

What I didn't tell them is that I am not sure who is more traumatized, him or me.  That bath might have to wait.  We've both had enough for one day.
