It's Trucking Time

This whole coronavirus business did not impede the settlements of my old and new house from proceeding as planned. Fortunately, both title companies decided to keep their offices open yesterday, albeit ensuring that people kept their distances and desks have hand sanitizer available at all times. One of them even seems to have raided the toilet paper aisle early.

It’s a 1.5-hour drive between the old and new house, so I rented this 26-foot truck from U-Haul and have already emptied the storage unit into it. It’s an F-650 with the Triton V-10 gasser. This thing is ridiculous: the engine wheezes at the slightest goose of the go pedal, the wheels are either groasly unbalanced or have flat spots the size of Nebraska and make smooth roads feel like an overland adventure, the side mirrors are not adjustable, and the steering wheel can swing from LA to NY before the rest of the chassis follows.

Tomorrow I will empty the old house, give it a quick sweep, and say goodbye for the last time.
