I took the KLR out for a very brisk ride this evening, and discovered one of the KLR’s interesting foibles: the liquid cooling system and its tendency to run super cold in cold weather at speed, because reasons. Long story short, they make a kit called the thermo-bob which converts the system from engine-bypass to radiator-bypass, which is what pretty much all modern cars use to keep engine operating temps very consistent.
While I was at it, I ordered an LED sealed-beam headlight which perfectly replaces the original halogen sealed beam unit, no other modifications necessary. Gonna be a good winter.
