So, here we are, almost 2 years later, and 5,000 miles covered already and the VW Phaeton has turned 135K miles and 15 years old. So far, no codes although it has still needed some care and some repairs.

No codes, No CELs, all good and running as it is supposed to:

Maintenance on these, is not for the faint-hearted or wallet-challenged. Even with the help of many talented friends, the bill was as follows:

Two New batteries: $700 installed at independent mechanic...this one was really a bad decision. Phaeton’s batteries (both) were turning 5-6 years old. I told my mechanic to buy some ‘non-oem’ batteries, the Phaeton uses two very large batteries. He then got 2 Bosch batteries at retail price (!), so $700 for 2 $239 batteries and installation. This one I should’ve done myself.

Oil changes: (1) $120

Lightbulbs (for future replacement) 2 OEM ones for $85

It needs some slight work to fix a very small dent in my trunk (Courtesy of my FIL) and some real good detailing. Other than that, is running well.

The rear AC buttons area needs some detailing, is very scuffed. The trunk could use a repaint as well.

To make it to 140K, it will need new rotors and brake pads, Maybe some new tires as well.
