In a rather sudden turn of events, Chevrolet decided to reveal the all-new 2019 Blazer, their contender for the sporty mid-sized CUV market dominated by the Toyota CH-R and the controversial new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

Not much has been revealed so far about the new Blazer, besides the fact that it is apparently based upon the Acadia/Traverse, and will feature power from a 2.5 liter I4 and GM’s 3.6L V6, which means that 300 horsepower is optional, kind of a first for this category.

The styling on this new Blazer is bound to be controversial, as all crossovers are. It definitely takes a lot of cues from the trends of today. I, however, kind of like it, as I think big grilles like these work best on CUVs (NOT THE CAMARO). I think it’s a logical evolution for the Blazer nameplate, as is the new Cherokee, and the only thing it’s really missing is a two-door option for me.

Either way, the new Blazers will hit dealers in 2019 and will probably become an immediate hit.
