I’m looking to build a desk similar to pick related, but without the cabinets. However, I’d also like to have a little thing that flips up on the side that I could extend the desktop, like what college lecture halls have, although it wouldn’t have to be flush with the rest of the desk. It would be used for holding a notebook or book I’m referencing while I’m working.
Does Oppo have any advice on how to design or build something like this? I’ve made furniture before, but it’s been a while.
I’m hoping to make this with just a small table saw, wood glue/clamps, and a drill.

Also how fancy/decorative could I make it without needing additional tools?
