Well here it is. 2006 Volvo V70 2.5T AWD. This really isn’t what I thought I was going to buy, but evidently I have.

197,000kms, timing belt done early at 158k, runs smoothly and quietly, turbo spools and makes it unsettlingly fast for its heft, trans shifts consistently and positively. Everything works, no warnings or lights or anything. My god are the seats ever comfortable. Good stereo, and two of my favourite things so far are the vents for defrosting the rear windows, and the rear headrests that flip down. Every car with rear headrests should do that.

All that said, the front tires are from 2013, and the rears are from 2010, and they look it. They’re also on 16" 1st gen V70 wheels for some reason. They look small, especially with the jacked-up rear for AWD reasons, but I don’t think I want 17s, for comfort reasons. Also the suspension is generally tired, I’d say it would benefit from shocks, struts, and control arms. It’s nothing dangerous, it’s just a little boaty and wants to wander a but on uneven surfaces. Oh and the fabric on the A-pillars has failing adhesive, which is annoying.

Anyways, here’s some pictures.

So that’s that. We’ll see if this is just a road trip car for the summer, or if I actually like it enough to be a Legacy replacement.
