What do you drive if you are a “young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law”? The Knight Industries Two Thousand, that’s what. While David Hasselhoff got top billing, K.I.T.T. was arguably the biggest star of the 1980s TV show Knight Rider, and certainly one of the most widely recognized TV cars made.

Fans of the show have been making K.I.T.T. replicas out of Pontiac Trans Ams for years, and I recently had the chance to rent this nice looking replica via Turo. If you have a few minutes to spare, check out the video I made below, where I pilot K.I.T.T. down some back roads and search for Knight Rider filming locations in the Los Angeles area.

K.I.T.T. purists (yes that is a thing) will be quick to point out that this particular car isn’t “screen accurate”, as it’s missing some interior bits and the seats are not correct. However this lack of TV accuracy didn’t keep me from having a blast in this iconic F-body. Here are a few photos from my time with this machine.
