Looking at prices for OM617 engines online and lots of these are going for more than anyone would ever pay for my ENTIRE CAR with its worn interior and badly dented door nobody is interested in buying the complete vehicle as you can find much better condition 300ds than mine for $1800-$2000 all day but I’m seeing between $1000-$1800 for the long block only not even including the rare and expensive injection pump! My engine makes great compression, if I pulled it along with the turbo, injection pump and all the accessories and reinstalled my emissions equipment as well as give it a deep exterior cleaning I could probably fund an interesting swap and end up with a better overall vehicle. People love putting in these 4runners and land cruisers. The only question is what would I put in for that budget?
