Bronco Update

On launch day I reserved a Bronco. I partly did it because a non-refundable deposit is a low risk way to stunt on Facebook, but in reality I have been considering options for a new daily and the new Bronco looks sweet. So I made the reservation, joked about how I was definitely going to get one, and as more time has passed the more excited I’ve gotten about owning one.

My wife has gotten on board too and is as excited as I am. But I have some concerns - no, I don’t care that it’s an IFS and therefore not as good offroad as a Jeep. No, I’m not one of those people that refuses to buy a first model year car. No, I don’t care that the Samsquanch package is only available with the auto, it’s a big offroad truck I’m getting an automatic.

My concern is primarily that I have no reason to believe the dealer my reservation is at will sell the car without an obscene ADM. Luckily though some intrepid individuals on the Bronco6G forum started compiling a list of dealers that have promised they won’t charge ADM, and it just so happens one of those is nearby. I’m also still slightly on the fence about 2 door v 4 door, and I wasn’t clear whether the reservation could be switched to a different layout. Naturally the solution is to reserve a second Bronco, right?

Today I received an email from the second dealer: they are confirming via email that they will not add ADM (though I’m skeptical there won’t be a catch somewhere), and as a bonus they’re sending a Bronco jacket to people with a reservation!

A salesperson even called to say hi and mention the jacket. It’s a small gesture, but between being up front about ADM (assuming they stick to it) and taking the time reach out I know where I’ll be going to buy a Bronco.

While chatting with the salesperson he did say that Ford is allowing reservation holders to switch their dealer one time via phone. So I will move my original one over and cancel the second one.

Unless the Build and Price changes things, my plan is to go Black Diamond (I want the floor plugs) in Cyber Orange with the Sasquatch package. The two door looks so much cooler than the 4, so I will likely stick with that choice. The biggest question I have there is how difficult is it to get into the back seats, and how bad is the leg room? From the pictures we’ve seen both look livable for someone who will spend most of the time in the truck alone or with my wife, with only a dog in the back seat.
