I’ve been here for over eight years now. I was introduced to Jalopnik and Oppo by a former friend. I made my first posts right when I was graduating high school, and let me tell you, I had absolutely nothing worthwhile to contribute and may have been a detriment to the community.
I posted off and on for the next few years throughout university and think I got into a better fit around here. Eventually the younger posters either mature, get banned, or stop posting. I think I matured. I’m still not sure. All I know is I found a strange groove to occupy on this forum.
Regardless, thank you to the Ottawa and Torontoppos, as well as the Saskatchewan guys, for proving that not ever stranger on the internet wants to murder you. Thanks to everyone else for the support and guidance throughout the years I’ve been on and dealing with my “flying the airplane while building it” mentality.
Whether or not people make the jump to the new platforms, I hope the spirit lives on. You lot are a generally good group who manages to keep things excellent (though toes do get stepped on every once in a while). Whatever happens, I wish for the best for everyone. And know that, if on a cold and cloudless night, you look up at the sky, know that I’ll be looking up at that same sky on a grid road in Saskatchewan, wondering how things got so sideways this time.
