I had to uninstall Folding@Home today. One of the fans on my trusty GTX 970 has started to make some bearing noise. Fan blades are pretty clean, so I’m pretty sure its not out of balance.
I tried to open ‘er up and see if I could get the fan out to fix the noise, but unfortunately the shroud is impossible to get off with the tools I have, and it doesn’t seem possible to get inside the fan either. I might order a replacement fan off ebay, but I’m not really even sure how to get the shroud off as I would need an angled 00 Phillips head. For now I’ll be keeping the clocks down and the fans off while I’m not gaming to prolong fan life a bit.
