Rust:The rockers are BAD. They would definitely need to be patched. There’s rust all along the drip rail and some at the top of the windshield; it’s nowhere near as bad here. The frame has been painted making rust there hard to assess. The rear leaf spring hangers are pretty rusty though.
Overall body: I believe it’s been in a wreck at some point. The panel above the radiator is black and has markings on it like I’d expect to see on a junkyard part. The hood is also held closed with hood pins. I’m curious how bad the hood would move around at speed. Everything you see that’s black was done with a rattle can. That includes the bumpers and wheels. The paint is faded but not terrible for a 20+ year old almost 200k mile vehicle.
The engine fired right up and actually sounded good. It did have what looks like a few new parts so it may have had some recent work done. The rear brakes may also have been gone over recently because the drums are pretty shiny. There was for some reason electrical tape on what I believe was the parking brake cable.
The interior was actually very nice given the age and miles. There were a couple tears in the driver’s seat, but the back seat was clearly rarely used.
There’s a line at the back of the engine compartment that seems to go to nothing. I’m guessing it’s a vent line for something that’s just up higher than I’m used to seeing because of Jeeping reasons.
