From C&D: Genesis has finally released pricing for the 2019 G70 sports sedan, and it takes direct aim at the BMW 3-series. The lowest rung on the G70 ladder, the 252-hp 2.0T Advanced, costs $35,895. That’s $5350 less than its most obvious competitor, BMW’s 248-hp four-cylinder 330i. BMW also sells a 320i that exactly matches the base G70 2.0T’s price, but with only 180 horsepower and fewer standard features, it isn’t a fair comparison. The cheapest way to get into a V-6–powered G70 is the 365-hp 3.3T Advanced, which starts at $44,745—$5200 less than BMW’s 320-hp six-cylinder 340i.

The G70 2.0T comes in six different trims: Advanced, Elite, Prestige, Dynamic, Sport, and Sport M/T. The automatic-transmission-equipped Sport, at $45,895, is the priciest and includes nappa leather seats and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. But even the base 2.0T Advanced is well equipped, coming with power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, and a suite of active-safety features. Climbing up the trim-level ladder nets you features like a head-up display, a sunroof, navigation, and leather upholstery.

The $38,895 Sport M/T is a different proposition from the high-end, automatic-only Sport in that—did you guess it?—a six-speed manual is its sole transmission option. Every other G70 is equipped with an eight-speed automatic, full stop. The manual Sport builds off the 2.0T Advanced model, adding enthusiast-oriented features such as a limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, those Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and a sport exhaust as well as niceties including heated and ventilated front seats and a 15-speaker Lexicon audio system.

In addition to its twin-turbo V-6, the 3.3T Advanced gets the Brembo brakes and limited-slip diff from the 2.0T Sport models, along with leather seats, full-LED headlights, and navigation, among other features from the higher-end 2.0Ts. At $50,495, the 3.3T Sport is the most expensive of the four V-6 trims (Advanced, Elite, Prestige, and Sport) and the only one to get adaptive dampers, as well as the 2.0T Sport models’ copper headlight accents, dark-chrome exterior trim, and 19-inch wheels with Michelin summer tires.

On all 2.0T and 3.3T models—except the manual-transmission 2.0T—all-wheel drive is a $2000 option. And as this is a Genesis, there are no options to choose from aside from color. At launch, there will be two different special-edition G70s: the $49,745 3.3T Design and the $51,745 3.3T Dynamic. The former builds off the Prestige trim and gets a unique Black Forest Green exterior, cream nappa leather seats, and dark-green leather trim on the door cards and instrument panel, while the latter is based on the Sport and adds performance brake pads, an upgraded cooling system, and specific tuning for the suspension. Just 400 of each special editions will be built, with all of them to be built in the first year of production. The 2019 G70 hits dealerships in the United States this week.- Emphasis mine.
