Reading the FP post on the Subaru recall is a reminder of so many people’s experiences with poor to mediocre quality of Subarus.
My Outback hasn’t been delivered, and if I back out now I might lose my $500 deposit, and test the limits of my wife’s patience. But I’m not going to back out because I’m just not willing to incur the poor fuel economy of my back-up choices. Plus they have higher purchase prices, so I guess I’m gambling that the money saved won’t be compensation for frustrating quality issues later.
