In yet another instance of an automaker downsizing, Car & Driver reports that with the coming next gen G80, it wont offer the 5 liter engine on any trim level. Instead the range topping engine will be a turbo V6. Genesis CEO Manfred Fitzgerald pretty much confirmed this. The G90 will solider on with the V8 for a few more years though they wouldn’t say how long.
There was also no word on whether or not the US would get the recently redesigned G90 that Korea just got. He ended it with saying that there wouldn’t be any updates or turbocharging for the engine, effectively squashing any speculation that there would be a next gen of it. So there you have it, if you want a Genesis with a V8 going forward, you’ll have to go big luxury with the G90, or go used.
