New for 2020, the CT4 replaces the ATS by being basically all new. But if the also new CT5 is any indication, the CT4 could be a lukewarm step backwards. Here’s the pricing/options.

The CT4 is available in 4 trims, with 2 engines, 2 transmissions and front or awd. You can choose between either a base 2 liter turbo 4 with 237 horses (shared with the CT5 and XT4) that gets paired to an 8 speed auto, or a 2.7 liter turbo 4 that’s paired to a 10 speed auto.

The base trim of the CT4 is the $33,990 Luxury trim. It comes...equipped. Not nicely IMO, just so. Everything in its standard features list screams that this thing will be reserved for the Hertz Premium collection as its spartan for the class (spartan as in it has things that aren’t even offered as an option that competitors have standard or available).

Exterior colors are standard GM fare. Meaning that Summit White and Black Raven are the base no charge color options. There are 8 other exterior colors of which 6 are $625 options and 2 are $1,225. Interior seating choices are just either Black or Beige leatherette seating.

There are 4 option packages. And as I always point out, the contents of these packages usually come with things that the vehicle should have come with already:

  • Sun & Sound Package $2,500: Power sunroof, CUE, wireless charging pad, Bose premium 14 speaker audio system.
  • Navigation and Bose Premium audio package: required when selecting the Sun & Sound pack.
  • Bose Premium Audio package $850: The Sun & Sound pack without CUE and the Sunroof.
  • Cold Weather Package $600: Heated wheel and heated front seats.

The only other stand alone exterior options are two 19” $2,350 wheel options. The standard wheel is a 17”. I didn’t add either of these. Same situation is in the interior with it having no options as well. All in, a base CT4 Luxury will set you back $36,490; $39,090 with awd.

The next trim is the Premium Luxury trim. Starting at $38,490, this trim sees the availability of the 2.7 liter engine as well. Exterior colors are the same. But this trim gets the option of 3 leather seating choices in either Black, Beige or Cinnamon. All are no charge but the Cinnamon seats do require a $1,200 Climate pack. Speaking of packages..

The Premium Luxury gets 7:

  • Navigation and Premium Audio Package $1,700
  • Climate Package $1,200: The package that’s required when selecting the Cinnamon colored seats. Includes 4 way power lumbar control and adjustments for front seats, heated front seats, heated steering wheel.
  • Driver Assist Package $1,200: Adaptive cruise control, Enhanced auto emergency braking, reverse auto braking.
  • Technology Package $1,150: Cabin air ionizer, Head up display, 8” color reconfigurable gauge cluster.
  • Bose premium audio package $850’
  • Driver Awareness Package $800: Follow distance indicator, lane change and blind zone alerts, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, auto highbeam headlamps.
  • Front Lighting and assist package: cornering lamps, front park assist, LED front turn signals.

These 7 packages honestly could be combined down to like 3 or maybe 4. But Cadillac appears to want to nickel and dime customers for things that should be together. Selection of the Drivers Assist pack requires the Tech pack. So all packages were selected except the Bose premium audio pack which isn’t needed.

The exterior on this trim gets the options of a $1,050 sunroof, which I added, and 3 wheel options. The Premium Luxury trim gets a standard 18” wheel. But you get the option of a $600 18” Midnight Silver wheel, and 2 19” $2,350 wheels. With no accessories selected, the CT4 Premium Luxury rings in at $44,940; $47,990 with awd; $48,490 with the 2.7 and rwd and $50,490 with the 2.7 and awd.

The next trim is the CT4 Sport. Starting at $39,590, its only available with the 2.0 engine. What makes it Sport you ask? Well it has a Black grill and Black tinted tail lamps, a lip spoiler, Brembo brakes, Magnesium paddle shifters front sport seats and that’s it. Its all visual.

The Sport trim gets a few differences on the exterior color choices. You get to choose Velocity Red ($625), Royal Spice Metallic ($625) or Red Obsession Tintcoat ($1,225) in addition to some colors shared with the other trims. Inside, standard seating is leatherette, but the Sport trim gets 2 $1,000 perforated sport seats in either Sangria or Black. I chose Sangria. Selecting this requires a $2,200 in options as well. Other than that everything else is the same. Save for the choice of Blue or Red brake calipers for $595. All in a CT4 Sport is $48,585; $50,585 with awd.

And lastly, the top of the CT4 line is the $45,490 V-Series (Which is not the CT4-V? Im assuming? I have no idea. Its called V Series, but when you go to Cadillac’s model lineup to build and price, its its own separate model that starts at $44,495. But clicking on it to build and price it just takes you to the CT4 lineup overall where you will only find....the CT4 V-Series. Which, if all this is the case, and the V Series and CT4 V are separate models, would mean that the V-Series starts at $995 more than the V. Confusing). The only engine choice is the 2.7 liter turbo paired with the 10 speed auto. Visually, you cant really tell the difference between the Sport and the V-Series. The V-Series does get quad exhaust, performance suspension with Magnetic Ride Control, a limited slip rear diff and performance traction management with launch control. All options are the same as the Performance trim which means that a fully loaded CT4 V-Series will set you back $52,785; $53,285 with awd.

On paper the CT4 looks to follow the same playbook as the outgoing ATS: pricing on par with the Germans all the while not doing anything that makes it stand out from them. And as I always have to point out, you can get nearly double the power and performance for less over at Genesis (and Kia with the Stinger). So who’s this for? Who knows. And I don’t think Cadillac is quite sure either.
