You don’t realize how stupid someone is until you have to work with them every day.
So a while back, I got a friend of mine a job where I work. At first it was great..........Then I became his venting/advice person.
Now I don’t have a problem with listening while others vent, nor do I have a problem with people asking for advice. What I do have a problem with is people venting/asking for advice on the same shit, every single day, because they are too fucking stupid to actually listen to what you have to say.
Scene 1: He wants to know where a good place to take his car is. I ask him why he doesn’t do the work himself, as he has a giant shop full of tools. He’s too lazy, ok whatever, I suggest a couple places and tell him ones to avoid. Fast forward a week or so, he comes in bitching about the shop he went to (one of the ones I told him to stay away from) messing up his car and not wanting to fix it on their dime. Hmmm, almost like there’s a reason I told you to stay away from them. Then his mom’s van breaks down, where does he take it??????? To the same goddamn shop! Then again bitches about them doing work wrong (used regular struts on a handicap van, installed exhaust with one hanger). This is no surprise, I don’t know why you keep going back there? Gives me some BS line about getting vehicles there, blah blah, the goddamn place is miles away from them and they have to go out of their way to get there! This scene has been playing pretty much nonstop since he started.
Scene 2: His kid is always constipated. Again asks me for experience, of which we have plenty having 3 kids. I tell him to write down what he’s eating, then figure out what’s causing it, and change his diet. So they start a journal, which lasts for about a week, then they decide to just give him a laxative daily instead of actually solving the problem. His excuse? Well my wife has always had issues too. Really, you don’t think it has anything to do with the fact that she eats like crap do you?!?! Oh no, it’s always been a problem for her... She never eats vegetables, never drinks water (or enough liquid to count as drinking), and she’s not active, you really think her lifestyle isn’t the problem!?!?
Just a couple recent ones, this shit is a daily occurrence.
