A thing rarely seen, seen again

This thing. Last seen in the workshop of my local Smart specialist, now outside his door.

Smart Roadster rear subframe with engine, gearbox and suspension attached to trike bits. Note no apparent pedals. It’s an automatic so there’s a R-N-D switch on the dash and I had assumed brake levers but now that I look I don’t see any so stopping is something of a conundrum. I see what seems to be a pedal below the right indicator but it looks very awkwardly placed.

Note also what looks like the original Smart handbrake lever to the right of the seat.
