I continued cleaning up wiring today. I leave for Luxembourg and Paris on Sunday so everything is a bit frenetic. I ended up having to run into the city to pick up something from the office, so I made a quick visit to the SF Auto Show. I got to drive the 2019 Miata (automatic, blegh and in traffic only). The new engine is cool but damn the autobox geared way too low. I need to drive a manual one and get it out of 2nd gear. The only thing I really got out of it was that it has a fine interior with fine materials, albeit a cramped feeling compared to my NA6.
I didn’t start on the Exocet until 4pm but got 5.5 hours in. There are a few tools that I want to point out as godsends:
Solder Seal Heat Shrink Butt Connectors- these puppies require no crimping. Your heat gun seals the tube and melts the solder inside in about 5 seconds. Blammo - wires fused together in perfect harmony.
Second, multimeter. Third, some mini scissor things that are amazing at cutting through electrical tape.
And here it is: Working highs and working lows.
Where is the directional, you ask? Long story short: I’m dumb. I though I bought the ones with built in turn signals. I didn’t. So I’ve got to come up with something when I get back from Luxembourg. Tomorrow is cleaning day, so that my roomate can get to the laundry... oops.
