Bright side? Not moving to LA (yet, anyways). Down side? Didn't get the job.

Didn’t get the job that I interviewed for last week. I was the first candidate they spoke to and from experience, that’s rarely the person who gets the job. I’m not really broken up about it and I really do wish them well.

I learned a thing a while back (when interviewing with Amazon back in 2012ish):

  • When interviewing a company in a city that is a plane-ride away, spend a day being a tourist and enjoy the trip. If you don’t get the job, you still have other fond things to remember about it.

Glad I took my own advice to heart and went down a day early. In the case of the Amazon trip back in the day, that turned into an entire week where I mainly couch surfed because weather cancelled flights for 3 days. I ended up with a full week of Seattle. Not bad!

I guess now is as good of time as any to mention that I’m working on a little side project to catalog all the fun automotive experiences out there then let you build a personalized bucket list of museums, tracks, etc. The goal is to keep is ultra-simple - basically an aesthetically pleasing front end on a database. There’s not need to try and be drivetribe :)
