Hi all! I hate how there is no search function in Kinja for your own posts (I also did a Google search on Oppo for similar search terms and can’t find anything) so I can’t remember if I posted this here before, but you folks are the folks that would be interested, so here goes! :D
In Canada, there was a failed Canada-only dealership network called Passport back in the late 80s, early 90s (1999-1991). It was a GM project selling rebadged import cars from Isuzu, Saab, Suzuki....Daewoo. Quite an eclectic mix! I have a near-pristine brochure from the time that I scanned awhile back and can’t recall if I posted it here, so I’m just sharing it again as I just re-found the file for the first time in awhile and figured even if I had posted it, some newer folks to Oppo might enjoy it! This one is specifically on the Isuzu Impulse and Stylus, but you see Passport’s other offerings in the front cover as well.
A lot of these vehicles were rebadged and sold as the short-lived (‘92-’94) ‘Asuna’ brand in 1992 when the Passport network was dissolved....Asuna badged cars are few and far between here these days, but you still see one once in a blue moon. Of all the Asuna rebadges, the Suzuki Sidekick/Asuna SunRunner is the most common left, at least around here...
Fun fact, we had a GM Sunfire before the Pontiac Sunfire up here! ;)
