All of it has taken place during my 4 years on Oppo, so many of you know this story.
May 2014: A collective eyeroll is issued be the group when I reveal that my parents have bought me a 2001 Audi A8L as a first car. This is the first picture I ever took of it on the dealer lot:
July 2016: I announce that I am selling the A8L and daily driving the old Alfa Romeo Spider which was in the back of our garage and which we finally got running. I daily it for a month or two, then go back to dailying the Audi instead of selling it. This is the first time the Alfa left the back of our garage in a few years:
March 2017: A8L is totaled by insurance as a flood write-off.
April 2017: A collective eyeroll is issued by the group as I replace it with a 2001 Lexus LX470. This is the first time I saw it in person, having already taken ownership of it (big mistake):
October 2017: Having realized that I have made a terrible mistake on a variety of levels, I sell the LX.
November 2017: A year ago this week, I picked up my current car, a 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero. The collective eyeroll does not occur right away this time, but rather waits until I announce that I had thought a 13 year old turbocharged Subaru with 135,000 miles on the clock would be reliable.
What’s next? When will it happen? Who knows?
