One Less Toy.. (Update)

Well this is weird. The person who was supposed to pick up the KE100A didn’t show. The next buyer was a savvy feller who checked the VIN and figured out I’ve been bamboozled.

Apparently this is a 1974 Kawasaki G5, yet I had a title for a 1979 KE100A. I should have known this. When I researched the KE100A I couldn’t find that tank decal as an option. But I did with the G5. I believed the old man when he said it was a KE100A. That was a bad choice. The buyer also brought a compression tester and found it to be under spec. In the end, I was still able to sell it, but for $50 less than I paid for it. Considering the title issues, low compression, and the fact that it wasn’t the model I advertised, I call it a win.

New lesson learned: VIN check everything no matter how trustworthy the seller appears.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of selling it. Now that I really am at peak motorcycle for my income and storage space, I have no need to have two tiny enduros. That has kinda been hampering my motivation to restore it. The GSX project is already taking over the YouTube part of why I got the KE100A. Well, just like with the Blast and the Rebel, if I don’t have a firm emotional attachment to a bike I will get rid of it!

A member of my Gambler 500 team has been in love with it ever since I posted it. So I pitched the idea to my team and almost immediately received an offer a little greater than what I paid for it. Even accounting for fuel and trailer rental, I still come out a little on top. So what the heck, I accepted the offer.

If I replace it (which I have no current plans to), I would love something like a CBR600R F3, F4i, or maybe try to pry that adorable Aprilia RS50 off the seller I got the GSX from.

Yay, I am capable of downsizing! :D
