State of the 3080 Launch: She's hobbling along, doc.

Literally a unicorn of the offerings at this point. No word on the ROG STRIX variant of ASUS’ 3080 thus far compared to their competitors, i.e. MSi and EVGA.

Ever since the 3080 launched last Thursday, sales of the 3080 has been hit and miss (as in, in a way that no one could even snag one up.)

Thankfully, some good news has arisen from NVidia: starting forward, future sales will require a Captcha authentication (as to how effective the method will survive a bot onslaught, time will tell) and production has ramped up in notches - not full, but enough to come in intervals. Even EVGA has considered such tactics to help get XC3 and FTW3 units in people’s actual hands.

As for ASUS? They cannot be reached for comment but it seems that a few of their TUF Gaming units have been sold to legit customers. No word on the ROG STRIX version, however.
