Continuing on from my reignited build thread from yesterday next in line of the reassembly of the Firebird was some interior parts.
First in line was a little bit of cleanup of the floor since it was quite dusty since laying on the paint.
Next the carpet went back in.Carpet was bought new a couple of years ago from classic industries so after a little bit of cleanup it was ok to go back in.
A box of wires.
The wiring loom is actually in pretty good nick and does not have a lot of hacking into it so it will also be reused.
Heating package and ventilation going in.
Dash panel installed.
New window moldings going in as the old ones were completely destroyed.
They went in okay but I had to use a little bit of soap to get them to slide into their rails.
Next up was the instrument cluster. This one had previously been painted half-assed painted black over the beautiful fake wood and then covered up with a piece of sheet metal.
Surprisingly after some love with some strong chemicals I was able to get the wood grain to come back out again.
Gauges going in. These are just some cheapo gauges going in right now. Some day I’ll try to source a complete gaugle cluster from a Trans Am to put in.
Instrument cluster and steering wheel installed. Same again steering wheel will stay for now but if I find something a bit more classy down the line I might replace it.
