Update: After hearing your stories and admiration of the 250 GTO, I thought I should share this - I’ve seen the 250 GTO that’s in this article!
I had planned a trip through California in 2017 with Car week as the focus. But of course, I couldn’t spend $400 for a Concours D’Elegance ticket. So I booked my flight from SFO at 11am that Sunday. I thought I’d go early and at least go there to see the cars in the parking lots.
So drove around the tiny windy roads in Pebble beach as much as I could. And I saw Ferrari had taken over a villa of sorts. I parked my car and took the bus there. Saw some stunning Ferraris outside and started chatting with another bystander. I showed him my photos from earlier events that he had missed and told him how I really wanted to see a 250 GTO.
As it turns out, it was be Ferrari’s 70th Anniversary. So they brought out 70 vintage Ferraris and took over Hole #1 (I believe) of the course.
He said, “Why don’t we just go in”. I wasn’t sure they’d let me in. But I went with it. We get to an entrance, he flashes his pass and that was it! Walked right in. I couldn’t believe I snuck into the Concours D’Elegance!
And get this, that space had TWO 250 GTOs! - In the 70 car display. Apparently, there was one more inside the main event.
Unfortunately, it was getting close to 9 and I had to leave to make my flight. So I couldn’t see the rest of the event. That was one of the best days of my life. Here’s some more pictures I took!
I should also mention, they have the best bathrooms/locker rooms ever with leather couches inside!

I sure as hell hope so!
I know this is a very “basic bitch” response to the favorite car question, but the 250 GTO is my favorite car.
I’m never going to drive it or own it. But I would love to own a replica. A Tempero would be ideal.
