Aparently they want to demolish the building where Cafeteria trevi sits in Mexico City’s downtown area. It has been there for decades. If it looks familiar at all, it’s because it appeared in Narcos.
I didn’t understand why they wanted to destroy the building until I looked up the building permits for that plot of land. It has a mixed permit, which means that you can put businesses, housing, or offices in that plot. Even though it’s a six storey building as it sits, I bet that a slezzy developer could make a large twelve or fifteen storey building out of the plot.

The owner starte talking to the media about how he didn't want to be pushed out because of gentrification.
