According to the CIA world factbook, Mexico is the third country with the most air transportation infrastructure. Behind only the US and Brazil.

Shamefully, when it comes to actually using it we fall behind, not even breaking into the top ten for aircraft movements or passengers transported.

According to the world bank, there were 58 million passengers in 2017, the Mexican government on the other hand claims closer to 100 million. Using the government’s claim would place us in 10th place globally, rather than 19th.

Even with all of this infrastructure the market is still centered around Mexico City airport, which handles the most traffic and is also the destination of seven of the top ten domestic routes.

At least we do lay claim to being the second country with the most private jets.
