That is one of the 20+ mile bridges on I-10 over the Atchafalaya basin. Once it happened, they diverted traffic on the west side of the Mississippi River bridge. I took the alternate route (Hwy 190) about 15 miles to the north, but traffic was snarled in all the small towns along the way.
