Reddit’s Just Rolled into the Shop is a veritable cornucopia of the many wonders and oddities of shop lyfe. You never know what’s gonna roll in. Here’s what caught my eye this week.
It was a 6.4, it had a cavitated front cover.
[Escape] 1.6 Ecoboost
It’s a pile, alright.
In their defense, that headlight is a bumper pull and the customer was in a hurry.
Da bigga da gob, da betta da job

A coworker had to diagnose an electrical problem on a ‘18 Tacoma. A fuse would pop when the turn signals were used, disabling the cluster in the process. After some searching, he looked at the factory trailer harness in the back and didn’t notice something weird at first, then he saw it.
Somehow... someone stuffed a hitch ball reducer bushing in there and it fitted really neatly around the pins (7 pins connector). Not sure why only one fuse was giving up the ghost when basically everything was shorting with everything... but that’s some impressive level of stupidity. Turns out that a salesman saw the bushing on the ground behind the truck that was in the delivery parking and thought that it magically opened the spring loaded trap and jumped on the pavement. So being a good guy, he stuffed a conductive metal bushing around pins that shouldn’t be all connected together. Wish I took a pic, but I didn’t have time.
After they backed over the milemarker, they kept going and when it sprang back up, it caught the side of the tank and tore it open and they lost all fuel on one side of the tank...
They were absolutely stoners. Service writer came in laughing before we brought the car in telling us how the two of them were completely stoned.
03 kia L6 ...Guy’s friend installed a helicoil, hand-tightened, without tapping the well. The well is now about 3 times it’s natural size and completely smooth... hood looks like someone used a hole-punch on it now...
Yes I’d like to report a bug

Bent inner tie rod ends from them jacking the cars up from the wrong spot
Yes...that’s electrical, air and hydraulic lines wrapped around a driveshaft on a Pete mixer. Driver had no idea it happened until the brakes locked up on him...
Shockingly, the chain was properly adjusted with no tight spots in it.
