Fleet van came to the shop for an alignment and complaining of a weird noise. Found a harmonica zip tied to the front away (sway bar, typo, whoops) bar.

...we didn’t charge them anything. The laugh alone was worth it.

05 Tundra...

...found a course thread inverted torx head screw jamming the intake valve open. That screw has no place on that truck, never mind in the engine bay...

Don’t know where that thing came from or how it got past the air filter but damn did it cause some issues. And I think it was getting spit out occasionally because the truck would seemingly run smoothly, if loudly then randomly stall. Then you could fire it up but it would misfire and run like a bag, then run smoothly again.

I checked pistons with endoscope, just a small mark in piston. Compression check OK. We adviced customer to contact previous shop. There is no point for us to be in the middle of this fight.

99 v6 mustang. My guess is it’s 21 year old coolant. It wasn’t even overheating impressively enough.

For those who will ask: 90's Dodge 1 ton 2wd truck with a Cummins diesel and manual transmission. Yes, it leaks every fluid it has, the front end is shot, the tires are showing cords, and the customer declined all the work.

Colorado shuddering when the TC locked up, replaced the TC, came back 2 weeks later on a tow truck with trans oil everywhere and no drive. Thought I messed up the pump seal so replaced that and reinstalled the trans, STILL FUCKING LEAKING. Added UV dye to the trans oil and eventually found this shit. If you sprayed it down with brake clean the dyed oil would reappear like this within a few seconds. Good times.
